Noxious Weed Program Duties

The Noxious Weed Program duties include:

  • Monitoring the implementation of the Noxious Weed Control Act by the county weed control authority;
  • Provide training to new county weed superintendents;
  • Investigate complaints of uncontrolled noxious weed infestations reported by the public;
  • Review information and reports from county weed control authorities required by the Noxious Weed Control Act;
  • Disseminate information and conduct public awareness campaigns regarding the control of noxious weeds; and
  • Conduct survey inspections in each county.

Field staff also work with state and federal agencies that have responsibilities for noxious weed control on lands that they own or manage. Information and advice is provided to the public regarding the responsibilities of the Noxious Weed Control Act.

Staff members are in the field on a daily basis and report new infestations of noxious weeds to counties and survey and monitor for new invasive weeds that may be found throughout the state.
