Direct to Slaughter - Non-lactating
- Nebraska does not have any requirements since tese dairy cattle are not lactating. Veterinarian should check with slaughter facility to see if they have any requirements
Feeding to Slaughter:
- CVI (Health Certificate)
- Sexually intact:
- Official Individual Identification (one of the following):
- EID
- NUES Tag if applied before November 5, 2024
- Pre-Entry Import Permit Number - unless using an approved eCVI
- Approved eCVIs: Acclaim Systems, AgView, GVL, ISDA eCVI (Idaho), Mi-Corp, myVetTech, OVIS (Oregon), SaleTime eCVI, Vet Sentry, VSPS
- Negative Tuberculosis test within 60 days prior to entry
- Official Individual Identification (one of the following):
- Neutered:
- No permit required
- Official Individual Identification (one of the following) but not required to be listed on CVI (Health Certificate)

- NUES Tag if applied before November 5, 2024

- If under 2 months of age, quarantined to destination until a TB test is completed after reaching 2 months of age
- Or neutered within 60 days after reaching 2 months of age
For states affected by Vesicular Stomatitis, all livestock and horses must meet the following requirements:
- Vesicular Stomatitis Statement: The animals represented on this CVI have not originated from a premises or area under quarantine for vesicular stomatitis or a premises on which vesicular stomatitis has been diagnosed in the last thirty (30) days. I have examined the animals and found no signs for vesicular stomatitis.
- Pre-entry import permit number required – unless using an approved eCVI
- For exhibition purposes, all animals imported into NE shall be examined for vesicular stomatitis by an accredited veterinarian within forty-eight (48) hours of importation into NE and so stated on the CVI.
List of Common Import Statements
Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry into Nebraska UNLESS shipping directly from the farm or ranch of origin to an approved tagging site or shipping directly to a federally inspected slaughter establishment. (CFR 9 – 86.1)
CVI must contain the physical location of the origin of the animals and the physical location of the destination of the animals in Nebraska. Purpose of movement must be notated as "Feeding" with the statement for "Feeding Purposes Only." (CFR 9 – 86.1)
All Dairy cattle must have official individual identification. For sexually intact dairy animals that identification must be listed on the CVI. For neutered dairy animals they must have official individual identification but not necessarily listed on the CVI. Neutered dairy animals require a statement on the CVI "that these animals are all officially identified". (CFR 9 – 86.1)
All sexually intact Dairy cattle require a pre entry import permit prior to movement into Nebraska. Livestock Import Permits can be obtained by calling (402) 471-2351 or accessing the Nebraska Department of Agriculture website. (NDA Animal Imports)
All sexually intact Dairy cattle must be tested and found negative to an official tuberculin test within 60 days prior to entry into Nebraska.
