Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry into Nebraska. (CFR 9 – 86.1)

CVI must contain the physical location of the origin of the animals and the physical location of the destination of the animals in Nebraska. Purpose of movement must be included on the CVI.

All swine changing ownership and moving to a destination in Nebraska shall move directly or through no more than one (1) concentration point, and shall be confined to the premises of destination for not less than thirty (30) days, unless moving direct to slaughter, or permission has been granted for other movement by the Department.

All swine imported for breeding shall have official identification with the official identification number recorded on the CVI.

All swine imported for feeding shall be officially identified in accordance with CFR 9 – 71.19.

Feeder swine imported into Nebraska shall originate from a herd which is located in a state or area of a state which is classified as Stage IV or V, or a country recognized by APHIS as being free of pseudorabies.

Breeding swine imported into Nebraska shall meet the following requirements:

Brucellosis requirements, breeding swine over four (4) months of age shall originate directly from a state or areas of a state classified as a validated brucellosis free state or from a country recognized by APHIS as being free of brucellosis as set forth in 9 CFR 78.40 to 78.43 link. CFR 9 – 78.40 to 78.43.

Pseudorabies requirements, breeding swine shall originate directly from a state or area of a state classified as Stage IV or V, or a country recognized by APHIS as being free of pseudorabies.

Swine from pseudorabies quarantined herds moving to federally recognized slaughter establishments in Nebraska shall move on a VS Form 1-27, and shall move direct to slaughter in conveyances sealed by state or federal regulatory personnel or an accredited veterinarian. Such conveyance shall be cleaned and disinfected after unloading, but prior to transporting other animals.

Swine Production Health Plan, the Department may enter into written agreements with adjacent states setting forth conditions under which swine may move interstate within a swine production system in accordance with CFR 9 – 71.19(h).
